  1. as a Baptist preachers kid let me assure you…
this has been the norm for MANY years…

    1. @Acer Maximinus Oh goodness, I have said the most toxic and atrocious thing. The public may not forgive me but Jesus will, have a good night Brother.

    1. **. “””. Your religious leaders,, have betrayed you,, for power and money,,, and there is a special place in hell,,, for them “”… That’s a quote from BAHAULLAH,,, the Baha’i prophet… Who lived in the 1800s.. and was persecuted by the Muslim clergy… He taught us that all of the great prophets come from the same God.. and that God’s message evolves as humanities needs ,,evolve.. you can read his actual writings,, that speak to our hearts… **

    2. @John Edward the problem is religion and tax free status that attracts a lot of shady individuals. Make religion a private matter and don’t push it on others.

  2. He “denies the circumstances and characterizations. I never abused anybody.” Or, “She wanted it, she came on to me, I didn’t force her she jumped me”. Doesn’t deny it happened, just believes it was OK with her. This bull never changes, it never ends…over and over same excuses.

    1. THIS IS THE FIUIT OF THE UNBIBLICAL DOCTRINE “ONCE SAVE ALWAYS SAVE.”. NO MORE GOOD WORKS NEEDED. YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT AND YOU ARE STILL BOUND TO HEAVEN BECAUSE THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE IS ABSOLUTE AND COULDNT BE FORFEITED

    2. 😡😡😡 Woodchipper. Point it over a field; or at least put them to Hard Labor on a Regenerative Agriculture Farm for a few decades. No need to give them Bathroom Breaks or Porta Potties; they’ll “Fertilize the Fields” one way or another.

  3. Never understood why when sexual assaults happen in churches and schools they’re consider matters to be resolved internally. These are crimes and we have laws on the books to handle them. These women and the parents (if children are involved) should go directly to the police.

    1. @Anthony Hill too much societal shame. It’s getting better, but too many believed it was their own fault – we must do better for our children moving forward.

    2. @Woodland Gangsta yep don’t know why people thought the problem was just in the Catholic Church.

  4. This isn’t new. It’s been known there are cases in other churches such as Calvary Chapels where they try covering it up by moving the offender to another ministry instead of firing the person all together.

    1. **. The behind Faith does not believe in priests and ministers… And we don’t build expensive churches… We meet in members homes,,, where we have feasts and pray together…. We believe that all of the great prophets come from the same,,, ONE GOD. … Who sends an ever-evolving message,, as humanity evolves… There are Baha’is in every major city.. in America,,, and all around the world.. **

    2. @John Edward the word incest came about in the 13th centuary CE, rape in the 14th centuary CE and pedophile in 1951.

When was the printing press invented?

  5. To the surprise of no-one. Churches are all about power, religion is just the tool they have at hand. These people would just use something else if that weren’t available.

    2. @Fletcher Christian I have no problem with people of faith, if such beliefs bring you peace, don’t pay attention to my cynicism. It’s about the organizations that provide the public face for the faith, funded largely by people who apparently don’t pay attention to their sources of information.
They even made up an abundance doctrine to excuse their displays of wealth.

    3. @Fletcher Christian Calling folks out is not being dismissive. The churches have lost new followers by 73% as of last year. They did this to themselves

    1. @Captain BoneSpur To be fair we can’t prove there isn’t one but the onus of proof lies with those who claim there is.
Six decades on this earth and I’ve yet to see a single shred of such proof. I’ve seen plenty of lies, lots of self contradiction and plenty of avoiding the question but not a speck of proof.

    2. What is going on in the religious community. No to Legal Abortion, but child molestation is over looked. I’ll never understand.

    3. @Neisan ‘ōkurī Children with cancer and child abuse, is enough proof for me. If they was a god and it allowed that, it’s an abomination.

  6. Yet these people claim to be better than the rest of us …and people are surprised that I don’t trust preachers…

    1. @len Not really Santa and the Easter bunny are not telling you to hate anyone and anything that their precious book tells them too.

    2. @D Cle Where is you scientific peer reveiwed study proving the existence of your magical sky friend

    3. @D Cle Yeah and Santa Claus is real too. How gullible are you to believe in that fairy tale?

  7. I’ve been saying for years that the Catholic Church is an easy target for outrage, but rape and abuse happens in all religions. I used to be Catholic but went to another denomination when I couldn’t reconcile the church and pedophilia. Within a year started hearing of the same things again. A report came out in Australia outlining sexual abuse in religions. It’s happening in all christian religions and the Catholic Church wasn’t the worst perpetrator. That’s what shocked me.

    1. And you’re still a religious person? You’d think one would question what they are doing after that revelation, no pun intended.

    2. @burnout 2017 Not quite as this problem among teachers is higher, but as far as I’m concerned, any abuse of children is intolerable and anyone that would harm a child, should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

    1. **. Your religious leaders have betrayed you,,, and there is a special place in hell for them.. “”. That’s a quote from the Baha’i prophet,, Bahaullah …who taught us that all the Major Prophets came to humanity with a perfect message…but few of the people follow their , Prophets….. You can read the writings of Bahaullah,,,, because he lived in the 1800s in Iran.. where he was exiled by the Muslim clergy… Born to wealth and power,,,. He gave all of his money to the poor and lived most of his life incarcerated,,, because his teachings,, threatened the Muslim establishment… **

  8. I was raised as a Southern Baptist in West Texas, this doesn’t surprise me. The Southern Baptist Convention rarely loses a chance to be on the wrong side of an issue, be it racial, sexual, economic, etc.

  9. In my case over 40yrs ago, looking back there was NO WAY the congregation didnt know. I will NEVER get justice. Period.

    1. the TRUTH shall come to light. we all answer for our sins. I am sorry for your pain and suffering.

  10. These guys were chuckling about the Catholic abuse scandals. Knowing the whole time that they were just as guilty.

  11. As a Christian who has seen and been there during churches covering up sexual abuse… It’s sick how it just keeps going and people just ignore it.

    1. @Fred A not maga here. But what are we supposed to do when law enforcement won’t even go after these monsters in drag. (Church clothes).

  12. We need an amendment to the Constitution. Freedom from the influence of religion needs to be granted to the citizens of America .

    1. It’s laughable that out of all the⁴ enraged and morally upright people in this com.sec only 6 liked your comment..that’s the real joke and state of the world we live in.

  13. It’s anecdotal, but I was close to a local Baptist Church in Australia, where one of the ‘flock’ was sexually abusing his children, and the Church’s response was to lead prayers for his redemption. Not inform the police, just pray for the perp. He went on to abuse his grandchildren as well. Obviously, not enough praying.

  14. This needs to be prosecuted under the RICO Act. A corrupt enterprise, conspiring to commit a range of horrible crimes.
