Top CEOs’ pay hits all-time high | Made 243 times the average Canadian worker

By the morning of January 3, Canada’s richest CEOs already have earned the annual salary of an average worker, a new report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) finds.

Canada's 100 highest-paid CEOs made an average of $14.3 million in 2021, smashing the previous record of $11.8 million set in 2018. CCPA senior economist Alex Hemingway breaks it down.

    1. @Grand Central exactly, all you gotta do is funnel all the profits to the top and wait for the sweet sweet trickle of prosperity

    1. Because they have recruiters in India making money sending them here and our government is desperately trying to replace the working class because many Canadians are not having children partly due to an uncertain future and sky rocketing cost of living. And lastly you can buy PHD and master degrees in India it takes three days and makes it much easier to come here. That being said immigration is not necessarily a bad thing just implemented poorly and they have to pay way more for an education here if that’s why they came so the education industry is all for it.

  1. There must be a special place in hell for these CEOs who earn excessive salaries while more and more Canadians suffer.

  2. There should be a fair pay law that says no employee (IE a CEO) may make more than a multiple of say 150 over the lowest paid employee. The result would be equitable pay for the bottom earners (who create the lions share of the profits anyway). The cost to the company would be unchanged, but the workers would receive a bigger part of the profits they helped earn.

  3. Funny the focus is on CEO’s, I’m much more concerned about the half a million pay raises that government politicians and bureaucrats got during the pandemic. Somehow I don’t feel like “we’re all in this together”
