Trouble for Trudeau? Nanos says budget promises haven’t increased support for Liberals | TREND LINE

CTVNews.ca's Michael Stittle and Nanos Research's Nik Nanos break down last week's federal budget and discuss new polling that shows the Liberals haven't seen a bump in support following the release of the 2022 federal budget.

Then Michael and Nik turn towards the Conservative leadership race. Nik says the battle brewing between Pierre Poilievre and Jean Charest could turn into a fight for the "heart and soul" of the party.

Finally, is populism dead? Far from it, according to Nik's issue tracking and here's how it's playing a role on the presidential election in France.

    1. @dc varro with less votes every election. How many times can u win with less votes? That is two times in a row now.

    2. @Michael Dymtro they gained seats, conservatives lost seats. That was what 7 months ago. Really you have forgotten already about the election. Lol

    1. Abacus poll this morning showed that about 1/3 of liberal voters and about 1/4 of NDP voters would at least consider voting for the conservatives with Pierre as leader.

    2. @Mike Foehr plus about 80% of PPC voters, which is less surprising, but that alone could add up to an extra 4% of the popular vote.

  1. BTW he forgot to tell Canadians during his recent visit to BC and Alberta that he is going to Tax our Trucks big time. Tax our Trucks. Hmm, thats not going to be popular.

    1. I just posted the article from the Sun. My brother in-law told me this just an hour ago. We are all glad we bought new trucks in 2020.

  2. You are negative with the word populist- do you prefer elitism? Shouldn’t democracy be inherently populist?

  3. Trouble for lil potatoe and his criminal circle will be coming this summer. If I was a liberal minister or ndp mp I would be deep in hiding this summer because it’s going to be ugly for them lol

  4. I don’t think the poll keepers are asking the average Canadian if they like Trudeau, because everyone I know can’t stand the guy

  5. New taxes on pick up trucks increase costs for contractors. Cities and farmers Do they not understand lawn companies can’t pull their equipment around with a Honda Civic

  6. Thanks guys great talk. Pierre for PM because he is the only rational candidate who is aware of macroeconomics, and, how excessive spending and debt has ruined our country. Especially Liberal gov’ts who believe stimulus spending will ‘save’ the country. We need politicians who understand and value of the economy/private sector as the driving force of our country. Trudeau has doubled the federal debt and increased inflation extraordinarily bc he has not a clue about monetary policy, and, ruined the real estate market & cost of living…no clue. Canadians…housing prices are affordable when INTEREST RATES are higher so that the cost of a mortgage is higher…if rates r low then the banks will approve higher mortgage amounts and raise housing prices. Rates are low for 30 years bc the interest paid on the federal debt is over $25B per year…if they raise rates federal gov’t will pay too much interest…get it…liberal sheeps do not understand this. Vote Pierre CP.
