For proof of this, I tell of the terrible incident of July 27, 2008 – wherein a man, Jim David Adkisson, entered the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, produced a twelve-gauge, sawed-off, pump-action shotgun from a guitar case and proceeded to open fire on the congregation during the performance of the children’s musical, “Annie, Jr.”; he killed two people – Greg McKendry, age 60, and Linda Lee Krager, age 61.
In his statement to police, Adkisson said that he targeted this church because of its “liberal teachings”; he also told authorities that he committed this assault out of his belief that “all liberals should be killed”, and that the Democrats had “tied his country’s hands” in the “War on Terror”, and that they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of “major media outlets”; Adkisson decided that since he could not get to the “leaders” of the liberal movement, he would go after liberal voters; Adkisson held these beliefs for a period of ten years prior to the shooting.
A police search of Adkisson’s home revealed three books, all by known right-wing media stars: “Liberalism is a Mental Health Disorder”, by Michael Savage, “The O’Reilly Factor”, by Bill O’Reilly – and, a book titled, “Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty over Liberalism”, by – you guessed it, Sean Hannity!
