    I said a prayer for you today…
And know God must have heard
I felt the answer in my heart….
Although HE spoke not a word.
    I didn’t ask for wealth or fame…
    I knew you wouldn’t mind.
I asked Him to send treasures…
Of a far more lasting kind.
    I prayed that He’d be near you…
At the start of each new day
To grant you health and blessings….
And friends to share your way.
I asked for happiness for you…
In all things great and small
But it was for His loving care…
I prayed the most of all.

  6. Your mom sounds like an amazing woman.
May Allah grant her the highest levels of Jinnah

Losing a parent is one of the hardest things anyone can go through but, I can’t even imagine that pain being amplified even more by not being able to be there, say goodbye or bury her. What an incredible woman and i’m sure very proud of her son.

Oh Fareed, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. Your pain of not being able to be with her is immense…you are so brave…so professional. She must have been so proud of you. I trust your opinion and think you have one of the best minds around in politics and world views. Thanks for sharing about your mother, one smart and accomplished woman.

I went through this way 20 years ago when my beloved treasor Mom transitioned to the other side. I can imagine the feeling inside and how you must hold yourself not to crack in tears. May her soul rest in harmonious peace

My Mom died May 5, 2020. I wasn’t able to visit her, in her long term care facility, because of the pandemic. The staff were totally afraid of a visitor infecting them, so there were no visits allowed.

I lost my mom in the same way. Long term care facility, etc. But… she was in a regular hospital ICU for a couple of days before she passed away and the hospital did allow family to visit her. I know it helped her.

What an extraordinary woman and what a brilliant and lovely homage to your mother. With deep condolences, Fareed.

  19. Fareed.
Thank you for honoring your mother.
I took care of mine in her home of nearly 90 years for 6 weeks before she died because she never wanted to go into a nursing home.
Took a leave of absence from work to do it. But despite the fact my mom and I had relationship problems over the the years I felt she deserved it, not just because I was her only child, but because without her, I wouldn’t be here writing this.

  20. Beautiful tribute. My 90 year old father passed away Feb. 11, 2021. He did not have COVID, but was admitted to a hospital not 10 minutes from my home. We begged the doctors to let us see Dad. They told us that death was not imminent and our request was denied. Dad died less than 24 hours later. Dad was so afraid of dying. He was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to find mom in heaven. Dad died alone, in a cold empty room, with no one to hold his hand or give him comfort. Dying has become lonely and solitary. Prayers for strength to all who are experiencing this grief.
