Writer to film book launch in Jamaica as part of movie tribute

ten-minutesNegril, Jamaica, W.I. (July 13, 2014).  Rachel Citrin, yogini and author, will read from her latest book “Ten Minutes at a Time” including excerpts from “The Jamaica Story” on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Jackie’s on the Reef, West End. Negril.

Of the recent work the author states: “This is a book of stories from my life; it is filled with joy and pain, happiness and sadness. From St. Louis to Jamaica, to India, from the mountains of San Miguel De Allende to the beautiful beach town of Barra De Navidad in Mexico and then one more time back to Jamaica. My life has been and continues to be a wonderful Journey.”

Citrin lived in Jamaica for more than 20 years; she was invited to the island by her son. In the book she recalled one of her early passions: “I recreated a consciousness center like the one in India. This one was half-way up a little mountain in a hidden valley. We started as a two-room indigenous Jamaican board house which grew to three bedrooms plus verandah and a garden.” This was the beginning of the Jamaica Story, which continues to manifest in the most amazing ways, the author said.

She makes her strongest ‘Jamaica Return’ to date, bringing with her a film-maker who will capture the book launch as part of a movie tribute to the 91 year old author.  According to Citrin, her story is “envisioned as a movie with US film icon Meryl Streep who will portray the protagonist”.

The author has invited poet, Sharon Parris Chambers, to read from her book “Poetry from the Rose of Sharon: Divine thoughts and Inspirations for Living Well”. Included in the work is the piece entitled “Conversations of the Heart,” which according to Citrin “has changed my life”.

The author will have copies of her books for sale at the launch.
