He told them to march to the capitol and stop the steal after months of setting up the situation, so they did that, in quite large numbers, instead. its pretty clear they thought it was the right thing to do for him, and were proud of it. many still are.

Republicans did acquit him on a made up technicality. They tried to argue that the House couldn’t impeach to begin with because he’s out of office despite the fact that there’s precedence that negates their argument full stop, Mitch McConnell punted the Senate trial until after Joe Biden was inaugurated (aka Trump was no longer President), and the DOJ memorandum that Bill Barr falsely upheld as law that barred indicting a sitting President.
So according to the Republicans, you can’t indict or convict a sitting President nor once he’s out of office thus making the President totally immune to any and all prosecution. It’s bonkers.
Of course, this complete immunity only applies to Republican Presidents. If this was a Democrat, they’d try to impeach and convict regardless.
She’s right about the phone calls being known. McCarthy called trump about the violence and asked him to calm the people. He also said trump is getting other reports as well. There’s no doubt trump knew.
