Trump takes the Fifth at deposition

Former President Donald Trump invoked his Fifth Amendment rights and declined to answer questions from the New York attorney general at a scheduled deposition. "Under the advice of my counsel and for all of the above reasons, I declined to answer the questions under the rights and privileges afforded to every citizen under the United States Constitution," Trump said in a statement. Trump was to be deposed by lawyers from New York Attorney General Letitia James' office as part of a more than three-year civil investigation into the Trump Organization's finances. #CNN #News

    1. @T Mc Being “Individual One”, is not an excuse. But he is a un-indicted, co-conspirator. It’s past time to indict him!

  1. “The mob takes the Fifth,” Trump said at an Iowa rally. “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

    1. @Shawn M I do, the question is do you? It’s real clear Trump didn’t until the shoe hit the other foot. So I guess it’s a matter of circumstances 😳.

    2. @Bryoo When you take the fifth you are under oath. So it is true that you don’t want to incriminate yourself. So if you are under scrutiny your lawyer will tell you to keep your mouth shut, and you have the right not to testify. There is no spin for this, he said it himself, let this go find another talking point his own words make it untenable, unless you think that …no no I refuse to give you conspiracy ideas.

    1. @macforme it can be held against you in a civil case but not in a criminal case there is a big difference between the two

  2. “You see the mob takes the Fifth. If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?” -Donald Trump

    1. @AJ He has stated on Many Occasions that Hunter is Completely Innocent of all the accusations against him. Additionally he has stated many times that Hunters Lap Top is just “Russian Disinformation.

  3. Of course he did. Because the moment he opens his mouth, he’d be liable to perjure himself given his inability to tell the truth. 😂 Oh Donnie boy…

  4. Now we know. He’s guilty by his own definition.
“Only the guilty plead the fifth!” he’s said many times.
He should have just told the truth.
If he’s innocent there is nothing to worry about.
The fifth amendment is designed to avoid self-incrimination.
It’s an admission that if you answer the question, you’ll likely be convicted.

    1. @blameitonthepixie It seals the deal now. We knew he was guilty, but his base thinks he’s a god. Maybe this will convince 2 or 3 of them that Trump is bad news. Okay, maybe just one.
But I don’t see how this helps him.

    2. Go through the statements and see how every other person has said the same thing you’re saying why do we need you to repeat it again we get it

    3. @Dan Mcgriff – if it bothers you so much why don’t you just stop reading/scrolling/commenting?!

    4. @Felicia Walker actually I hurt my leg I’m laid up for a couple days so I start looking around the internet and I start reading all these posts I didn’t know that’s what social media was you all just repeat what the person before you said I thought there was more to it than that I think it’s kind of pathetic don’t you have anything else to do with your life how long have you been acting like this I’ve been at it for about half a day and I already find it ridiculous and it’s really sad this is what people do damn good luck to you try going outside go get your own life do something

  5. Pleading the 5th only goes so far. If evidence is overwhelming, you can absolutely be convicted of a crime.

    1. if evadence is overwhelming just arrest him but you cant all you can do is investigate meaning you got nothing but hope to get something any one can see that.. oui

    2. @P.R. Shredder its just getting sad on 1 side , but really funny on the other… FOX NEWS is gold… Greg Gutfeld omg

  6. “It was beautiful. Nobody takes the 5th like I do. Just tremendous, such loving people and nobody loves our Constitution more than me !”

  7. SHOCKING! Did we really expect him to cooperate or speak! For someone who has a lot to say on whats wrong with everything and everyone he sure stays quiet when an oath is involved. criminal memtality.

  8. “Only criminals plead the fifth. If you’re innocent, why are you pleading the fifth? Why are all of these people pleading the fifth?” —Donald J. Trump

  9. If someone I thought the world of, admired, respected, believed everything he said (Jimmy Carter, say) and he took the Fifth in a deposition, I would at least entertain some suspicions that maybe he wasn’t the person I’d believed him to be. That maybe I should not blindly believer everything else he’d said, especially the ones that stretch credulity anyway. But I suppose this will make no difference to the Magas.

  10. “WE ARE GOING TO FIGHT LIKE HELL!”

SIR now that your under oath what kind of hell would you like to bring to us? “I plead the fifth, please don’t hurt me”!

    🤪

  11. When we find with foreign operatives a copy of highly classified documents that have been identified as the ones in the possession of No. 45 – well then it is time to act.

The FBI and the Secret Service in conjunction with the DOJ have exactly done that. My heads up to them for making a difference and to do their job regardless of the position of the citizen they are investigating.

  12. I’m surprised nobody in the comments has mentioned that trump once said “if you plead the 5th, you’re guilty”
