Ken Shaw I don’t know the full story of how the British and the Americans decided to get rid of a democratically voted in leader in Iran. I do know the Americans were the main instigator and the British were concerned about their oil interests. The Americans were also concerned because the guy who won the election was left wing. Once again any country who has the audacity to want a left leading leader is the “enemy” according to the USA. It’s so sad as I have Iranian friends who talk to me about what Iran was like during the fifties and the sixties, the country was always influenced by the west, girls wore miniskirts, they listened to western music. Then the Americans and the British purely for their own interests have the democratic leader assassinated. Just think of what that country could have been. Now when the young people of Iran were protesting and want freedom, the biggest protests they’ve had since the seventies, trump comes along and gives the hard liners and religious conservatives just what they want. Once again the people of Iran are demoralised and suppressed by the hardliners, trump has given them a kick in the teeth, just when maybe the leaders might have loosened their grip on their oppressive policies. Check out a great documentary about what happened during that time. I watched it on Al Jazeera.
