  1. Juneteenth is a good idea.
There are certain things that Americans needs to remember, whether they want to or not.
There should also be a Janteenth.
    For January 6th.

  2. Evanston Illinois are happy doing Juneteenth parades and pride parades but not July 4th , due to Covid .

  3. Everyone should read:
    – ‘Slavery by Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War II’
    By: Douglas A. Blackmon
(This is also a DVD documentary)

    – ‘The Warmth of Other Suns’
    By: Isabel Wilkerson

    – ‘Our Time Is Now: Power, Purpose, and the Fight for a Fair America’
    By: Stacey Abrams

    – ‘The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together’
    By: Heather McGhee

    1. @The Omega Man and Israel. Too bad he forgot about the founding fathers were white, and ignored the white community completely.

  4. Thank you for this concise explanation. I hadn’t heard of Juneteenth until a year ago.

I am glad that this is now a federal holiday. It’s important that we teach the truth about our past as a country and a world. We need to learn from our failures and our crimes.

I am surprised how many people push back on critical race theory and Juneteenth, but I think it’s really because they are being influenced to think a certain way. Fox News and the like do not offer factual information, they are nothing more than negative influencers that go against the grain of common sense and morality. They are like social media influencers.

I don’t know how to help these right-wingers to embrace the truth in our current climate. Their universe, their matrix, in between their brain and their mind, is so filled with falsehoods and non-truths that I fear they are forever lost. They don’t receive updates from good sources from the real universe. Their well is poisoned.

Incidentally, when I typed in Juneteenth in this comment it wasn’t autocorrected to something else. A small thing I know but that’s cool.

  5. Juneteenth is just new racism. What about the thousands of other nationalities? We need less of this, not more.

    1. The problem with racists is that they’re so incredibly stupid that they don’t actually understand what racism is.. 🙄

  6. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden once said of former President Barack Obama. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

    1. @Melanin Magdalene Amazing that Democrats will blindly vote for a demented racist and a two-faced woman who couldn’t win a primary, and think, “This is progress.”

  7. Texas is the only State that actually was a separate Country before becoming part the the United States after they broke away from Mexico.
Think that might have something to do with it?

    1. I’m sure you don’t have any actual knowledge of what you’re speaking about because they don’t teach that in public school in this country. So I’m also pretty sure you’re ignorant on this matter as well. Trying to defend this is a losing battle & it’s what got so many Confederate soldiers killed in the Civil War. Do your research.

  8. Black people this will move along a lot faster if we would stop trying to drag everybody with us.

  9. Happy Juneteenth everyone. It’s the greatest day in the Republican Party . The party created to free the slaves and that’s what it did.Democrats did nothing. Dems are covering their guilt .

    1. @Buzzy boy It was Trump who wanted it passed. But democrats and republicans in the House stopped it .

    2. @Love Jones just like this law . Fake News. No days off. No paid days off. Only taken from a Texas holiday .

  10. I’m betting not one person on this forum heard of Juneteenth until democrats and media frantically wanted to use it against Trump in 2020, when he expressed making it a nationally recognized holiday…(couldn’t have that!)

  11. We the People have been denied the intent of our decision by our derisive brothers and sisters since 1865. Our Justice is old and slow but we will reach our appointed destinations before we lay down in the freedom land. That is my America! Land of the free and home of the brave. Amen!

  12. Janelle Ross makes a great point, here. Her comparission needs to be shouted from the rooftops!
